Sophie O' Carroll is a classically trained soprano currently studying for a Masters in Performance and Musicology at Maynooth University. She is also a member of the Maynooth University Chamber Choir. She completed a degree in Music Education majoring in Vocal Performance at Trinity College Dublin and the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2016. Sophie also holds a DipABRSM in Vocal Performance.
Sophie has worked as a secondary school music teacher and is now working as a tutor with The Mobile Music School and teaching music in Herbert Lodge Arts Centre.
Sophie is currently studying voice with Virginia Kerr. She has previously studied with Regina Nathan, Owen C. Lynch and Anne Woodworth.
Sophie won 1st place in the Arklow Music Festival 2019 Baroque Vocal.
She also came 2nd place in Baroque and Lieder Vocal Solos in Newpark Music Festival 2019 and 2nd place in the Baroque Solo in Sligo Feis Ceoil 2019.
Previously, she has been awarded 1st place in Kilcoole Music Festival 2017 and 2015 Adult Vocal Solo.
Sophie was the soprano in Kildare Decade of Commemorations 'Road to Rebellion' 1916 Concert series which toured Kildare in Spring 2016.
Sophie was a soloist on RTE's 'Service on Sunday' broadcast live from Prosperous Church in January 2016.
Sophie has performed as a soloist in recitals in the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Trinity College Dublin, National Concert Hall, Castletown House, Carton House, Naas Town Hall, Glenstall Abbey, Moore Abbey Monsterevin, Moat Theatre Naas, Riverbank Theatre Newbridge and Stradbally Hall, amongst others.
Sophie is available to sing at weddings, funerals, corporate events, musicals and for radio and television work.
Sophie has completed her Grade 8 drama exam with the Leinster School of Music and Drama.
Sophie is also an accomplished dancer having trained in musical theatre, jazz, hip hop and ballet. She has completed her Grade 6 IDTA ballet exam with the Anne Maher School of Ballet. She also has a keen interest in choreography.
