Sophie O' Carroll is a classically trained soprano who studied Music Education majoring in Vocal Performance in Trinity College Dublin and the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She received a 2:1 Bachelor of Music Education degree in 2016.
Sophie has worked as a secondary school music teacher and is currently working as a tutor with The Mobile Music School and teaching music in Herbert Lodge Arts Centre.
Sophie began studying piano at a young age and attended the Pamela Keeley Stage School in Newbridge, Co. Kildare for 11 years, studying dancing, singing, acting and stage craft.
Sophie began formal singing lessons aged 15 under soprano Regina Nathan in Herbert Lodge Music School in the Curragh. She then continued her studies with Anne Woodworth in the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where she majored in Vocal Studies in the final year of her Music Education degree. She is currently studying under Owen C. Lynch.
Sophie won 1st place in the Arkow Music Festival 2019 Baroque Vocal.
She also came 2nd place in Baroque and Lieder Vocal Solos in Newpark Music Festival 2019 and 2nd place in the Baroque Solo in Sligo Feis Ceoil 2019.
Previously, she has been awarded 1st place in Kilcoole Music Festival 2017 and 2015 Adult Vocal Solo.
Sophie was the soprano in Kildare Decade of Commemorations 'Road to Rebellion' 1916 Concert series which toured Kildare in Spring 2016.
Sophie was a soloist on RTE's 'Service on Sunday' broadcast live from Prosperous Church in January 2016.
Credits include the role of "Cosette" in the "Les Mis" section of "What a Wonderful Musical Life" with the Glasnevin Musical Society in the National Concert Hall 2014, "Dolores" in "Sister Act", and the role of the "Mother" in the opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors."
Sophie has performed as a soloist in recitals in the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Trinity College Dublin, National Concert Hall, Castletown House, Carton House, Naas Town Hall, Glenstall Abbey, Moore Abbey Monsterevin, Moat Theatre Naas, Riverbank Theatre Newbridge and Stradbally Hall, amongst others.
Sophie is available to sing at weddings, funerals, corporate events, musicals and for radio and television work.
Sophie has completed her Grade 8 drama exam with the Leinster School of Music and Drama.
Sophie is also an accomplished dancer having trained in musical theatre, jazz, hip hop and ballet. She has completed her Grade 6 IDTA ballet exam with the Anne Maher School of Ballet. She also has a keen interest in choreography.
