The Importance of Music on Your Wedding Day
Updated: Nov 1, 2022
Music plays a special role in all of our lives. The music you select for your wedding will set the tone and ambience for the day. Whether it be live music or your favourite songs streamed on Spotify, the music you decide on should reflect you as a couple. It should be meaningful to you in some way. Not only should your music entertain and uplift, but it should also give pause for thought and reflection during this milestone celebration.
Below are three reasons why music is important during your wedding day;
As Entertainment: Music can be used throughout your wedding day to entertain guests. There are many opportunities during the day to include music, from the ceremony and drinks reception to a band and DJ later in the evening. Many couples choose to create a wedding dinner playlist to play while guests are dining. We all know it's not an Irish wedding until the sing-song starts in the wee hours of the night!
To Create Ambiance: The music you select will set the mood for your day. Think about the overall vibe you are going for; romantic, laid back, black-tie etc. Try and link your music choices with this theme. For example, if you're going for a laid-back, relaxed vibe you might opt for a crooner-style vocalist for your ceremony and drinks reception, and perhaps include some Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble in your dinner playlist. This theme could then extend into your band choice.
To Express Emotion: Music can express what spoken words can't. Wedding ceremonies can be emotional affairs. You should choose music that holds special significance for you. At the very least, you should love the songs you pick; you'll be re-watching that wedding video for the rest of your life!
